Railway Heritage Exploration
Across the world, there are numerous vanished or dormant railways, bearing the memory of over two centuries of industrial civilization. Wang Wei, a railway heritage researcher and documentary photographer, measures history with his footsteps and safeguards cultural heritage with his lens and actions.
Over the years, Wang Wei's railway exploration footprint has spanned the globe, with his cumulative travel distance in China alone reaching 67,545 kilometers. Throughout this long-term field investigation, he has systematically collected historical data and precious materials on nearly 30,000 kilometers of old railways in China, conducted on-site surveys of 2,770 railway stations, and identified a total of 454 railway cultural relics and surviving stations of historical value.
