Here are some field notes on "chasing trains." Over twenty bitterly cold winters and scorching summers, through writing and publishing, I have sought to bring back into the public eye the boundary stones, stations, and rail lines that are gradually being erased by the times. From my 2017 book My Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway to the Chasing Trains series spanning a decade, every work represents what I have witnessed and experienced while walking along the tracks. Opening these pages, what we see is not merely cold locomotives or extending steel rails, but the organic symbiosis of people and objects, emotion and history, woven within the railway fabric—perhaps this is the true driving force propelling us toward civilization.
